The Global Disparities in Drinking Water: A Systems-Level Approach

Despite safe drinking water being a universal human right, the United Nations estimates that close to 2.2 billion people lack access to potable water. Through travel across Asia, South America, Africa and Europe, Kaitlin hopes to better understand the diverse experiences of populations in accessing clean and safe drinking water, from hospital systems stricken with waterborne illnesses to novel water treatment technologies.

Hometown: Mamaroneck, NY
Majors/Minors: Human & Organizational Development and Spanish/Environmental & Sustainability Studies

During her time at Vanderbilt, Kaitlin engaged with the campus community through her roles as an executive board member of the business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi, captain of the Women’s Club Soccer Team, and research assistant within the Vanderbilt Drinking Water Justice Lab, where she studied the impact of drinking water contaminants on human health. She is also a recipient of the Vanderbilt National Merit Scholarship.

After her fellowship year, she will be work as a strategy analyst at Deloitte Consulting and hopes to attend business school with a focus on implementing sustainable solutions in the private sector.

Kaitlin enjoys playing soccer, reading, exploring new cities, and picking up new hobbies. She is trying to learn how to DJ and make her own cold brew!
